If you want fun this weekend, the 2023 Anoka County Fair has plenty to see and do.
Staying hydrated while at the fair, can be easily managed, according to Anoka County Fair manager, Michaela Liebl.
"Coolers are allowed in the fairgrounds so people can pack their own waters, pack their own drinks, and bring them in,” Liebl said. “They do have to be checked, but as long as everything is good they can bring in their own coolers and stay hydrated."
You can take a step back in time, to the 19th century, when Anoka County was more rural. The barns are filled with a variety of livestock to check out. Sarah Schmidt is one of 17 members of the Anoka County Fair Board.who is helping to manage the barn activities.
"People can see some baby pigs this week and pet some cows," Schmidt said.
In its second year, at the Anoka County Fair, the national award-winning Compass Agricultural Education Building returns with its interactive displays. An agriculture stage was added this year with different activities scheduled, every hour, on the hour,… like the need for honey bees.
"Bees are only like 2% of the pollination that happens here and we want to make sure kids know that we need those pollinators," Theresa Brostrom, an Anoka County 4-H educator said.
With so much to see and do at the Anoka County Fair, there's something for everyone. For complete details go to anokacountyfair.com.
