Famous Dave's Returning to Coon Rapids, New Traffic Light Nearby

City officials hope a new traffic signal will make it safer for motorists traveling in the Riverdale area.

The light, which became operational this week, is located on Northdale Boulevard just north of Main Street at the McDonalds and Menards exit. Pedestrian and median improvements have also been made. And just to the north, an island barrier was installed to prevent cars leaving Costco from turning north which is prohibited. Those improvements were recommended following a traffic study of the busy area in 2018.

The new light was also required for a new multi-tenant building and bank being constructed at the northeast corner of Main Street and Northdale Boulevard. And we have confirmed that Famous Dave's will be returning to the site in September with a new cafeteria-style model, the first in the country. Company officials say the line service model will provide a quicker, smoother experience for customers at a lower cost for the owners.
