An early taste of winter weather is breaking records across the state this week.
Tuesday's storm dumped about a half foot of snow on the north metro and up to nine inches in the south metro. That's the heaviest snow the Twin Cities has ever recorded this early in October.
The storm had public works crews switching gears quickly from sweeping streets to plowing snow. Crews added about a dozen pickup trucks to their snow plowing arsenal to do a full plow of the city this week. And they are watching closely as more snow is in the forecast this weekend.
