As we hit the middle of summer, fresh food is being harvested from gardens across the region.
On Wednesday, the Coon Rapids Farmers Market opened for the season. It’s located in the parking lot of the Coon Rapids Ice Center. Customers were lined up from the beginning to get their hands on the home grown goods. Just four vendors were on hand for opening day.
"This year we are down some, some have actually quit, some didn’t join because of the COVID and they’re older and have health issues and different things so usually we have like 12 (vendors) but i think maybe there will be just one more here and that will be it," says vendor Sandi Golyer.
The Coon Rapids Farmers Market is open every Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. through October 7. Face masks are highly encouraged. The Coon Rapids Farmers Market is sponsored by the Anoka County Growers Association.
