ACBC Food Shelf Seeking Donations Following Unexpected Expense

The heat is back on late this week at the ACBC Food Shelf in Anoka.

A recent maintenance inspection discovered a problem with two of the five heating units which left the store and sorting room in the cold the last few weeks.  Repairs were made to the units on Thursday to the tune of $3,500.  The ACBC Food Shelf put out a call for donations this week.

"We've reached out to the community on Facebook as well in hopes they can rally around us and help us feed our neighbors and keep the place nice and warm and comfortable, not only for the recipients here getting their food, but for our volunteers who are here working as well," says Jay Carlson, ACBC Food Shelf manager.

If you'd like to help out, donations can be made in person at the food shelf.  For more information, call 763-422-0046.

Next weekend, the ACBC Food Shelf will distribute around 600 Thanksgiving meals to local families in need.
