500 Pumpkins Given Away at Inaugural Event

The Inaugural Rocky’s Pumpkin Patch event at Sand Creek Park on October 19 connected children with organizations that serve youth in Coon Rapids.

Athletic organizations, the Boys & Girls Club and other groups offered games, candy and information. The Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation sponsored the free trick-or-treating event and quickly gave away a field full of pumpkins.

“I woke up at 2:30 this morning thinking ‘Am I going to be able to get rid of all these pumpkins? Am I going to have to give them to the petting zoo?’ And low and behold we were out within an hour so almost 500 pumpkins,” said Scott Latta with the Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation.

Rocky’s Pumpkin Patch will return next year with even more opportunities for kids. Latta says the next family-friendly Community Strength Foundation event will be Easter themed.
