The Red Cross is putting out an urgent call for blood donations saying there's less than a three-day supply of most blood types.
Due to the 4th of July holiday, there were 450 fewer blood drives organized by businesses and other community groups last week causing a blood shortage. The Red Cross says at least a five day supply is desired.
To help meet the need, the Red Cross has added about 8,000 additional appointments at blood donation centers and community blood drives over the next few weeks. Donations of all blood types, especially Type O, are needed.
If you'd like to help out, there are three blood drives in Coon Rapids this month:
