Sudden Cardiac Arrest Survivor Thanks His Rescuers

A Coon Rapids man who survived sudden cardiac arrest thanked his rescuers this week.

"I just, I feel blessed to still be a dad and still be a husband because of your help so thank you very much," says Eric Lingbeek

Eric Lingbeek and his family spoke during a presentation at Tuesday night's City Council meeting.  His wife Jessica made the 911 call back in August following the medical emergency at the family's home.  More than a dozen first responders were involved in the call from the dispatchers and medics to police and fire personnel.

"You made me think about how lucky I am not only that we still have Eric with us today, praise be to god many years to come, but I now get to raise my kids and say to them be kind, be like those men and women who walked into our home on August 28, 2018 and all they did was help, be a helper, be a hero, you are certainly our heroes," says Jessic Lingbeek, Eric's wife.

During the presentation, Eric handed out appreciation certificates to the first responders who helped save his life.  They also posed for a group photo.  A doctor from Allina Health says the survival rate for sudden cardiac arrest is just eight percent nationwide.
