Dog Bites

If you or someone else is bitten by a dog, the police should be notified immediately by calling 911.

The dog needs to be evaluated to make sure it is up-to-date on its shots, including the rabies vaccination. Individuals bitten by a dog may need medical treatment. Someone should attempt to contain the dog until a Community Service Officer arrives at the location.

Bites at the Dog Park

  • If your dog is bitten at the dog park, located near the Anoka County Compost site off 133rd and Hanson Boulevard, you should call 911 immediately
  • Ask the other dog's owner to remain at the park until police arrive
  • Tend to the dog's wounds while waiting for police to arrive
  • Once the police arrive, they will document the incident
  • If the other dog's owner refuses to stay at the dog park, try to get the license plate of their car and report it to police

A dog who is unruly and has a history of biting will not be allowed at the dog park. The only way to keep track of a dog's history of previous dog bites is to report the incident to the police.

Cat Bites

If you cat bites a resident of your home you do not need to contact the police. If your cat bites someone else please notify the police by calling 911. The cat will need to be evaluated to make sure it is up-to-date on its shots. Individual bitten may require medical treatment. Someone should attempt to contain the cat until the Community Service Officer arrives at the location.
