Any work performed in the City of Coon Rapids within the street right-of-way requires a permit. Right-of-way is the property on which the street is located and that extends behind the curb approximately 10 to 15 feet.
Right-of-Way Permit is required for any work that may include grading, any utility installations, modifications, and repairs, including private sewer and water connections, and reconstructing a driveway with modification to the existing curb and gutter.
Right-of-Way Permit is NOT required for surface landscaping, tree planting, irrigation systems, and replacement of driveways or widening without any change to the curb and gutter.
All applicants must be registered before permit approval. As part of the registration, please provide:
Right-of-Way registration form.
Certificate of Insurance or Self-Insurance naming the City of Coon Rapids as an additional insured.
Two-year warranty bond of $10,000 to ensure the proper patching and restoration.(The City of Coon Rapids reserves the right to increase this amount for larger projects)
Permit applications are now accepted online only. As part of the application, please provide:
A completed Permit Application
Drawings showing the proposed work.
Traffic Control and/or Detour Plans based on the scope of the proposed work.
The City of Coon Rapids invoices registrants for permit fees on a twice-per-year schedule. The preferred method of payment is a check. Mail checks to: City of Coon Rapids 11155 Robinson Drive NW Coon Rapids, MN 55433 (Direct to Engineering Department - for Right-of-Way permits.)
