If you've driven past Coon Rapids High School in the last few weeks, you've likely noticed construction on the building is underway. And on Tuesday night, District 11 leaders made it official.Members of the Coon Rapids City Council joined the Anoka-Hennepin School Board for the official ground breaking for the renovations at Coon Rapids High School. This was the fifth and final high school in District 11 to break ground on a new security entrance as part of the district's "Fit for the Future" building upgrades. The successful school bond last November funded the projects."We have done a lot of work already to do an enhanced security entryway for the school and move our main offices down to the spot," says Superintendent David Law. "This ground breaking is the start of a multi-year project that will be a wrap around project that goes behind the project to make the building more secure, and much more welcoming to daytime and evening visitors.”In addition to the work at the high school, Coon Rapids Middle School is getting its own renovations. Work on the lower level of the school is underway in preparation for the additional students who will attend next year as part of the changes in school boundaries.
