Some good news when it comes to the cost of the project to add an overpass at the double railroad tracks on Hanson Boulevard.Last week, the Anoka County Board awarded the contract for the project to C-S McCrossan Construction Inc. in the amount of nearly $16 million. That's about two million dollars less than the engineer's estimate for the project. Construction, which will start this spring, will include a four lane divided bridge over the railroad tracks, a second bridge on the north side of the tracks linking 108th Lane east and west of Hanson, a pedestrian underpass and a frontage road. The project is expected to be finished in the fall of 2019. More than 12,000 cars and 81 trains cross that intersection each day making it the number one crossing for traffic exposure in the state.
