If you have business to conduct this month at a license center, a word of warning. A major computer upgrade is forcing the closure of license centers for several days. Here in Anoka County, all five license centers will be closed between July 20 and July 24. The new Minnesota Licensing and Registration System will standardize and simplify processes, reduce paperwork, improve security and enhance customer service. Under the new system, vehicle registrations and title transfers are recorded in real time so you'll no longer have to carry proof of transfer while you wait for the paper copy of the title from the state. Titles will arrive in two to three weeks versus eight to 12 weeks. License centers will reopen on Tuesday, July 25.
